CES Quilt Guild

Meetings are the first Monday of each month (holidays may affect meeting dates).

Meetings are held at the Alpharetta Activity Center  (13450 Cogburn Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004-3602). We are currently meeting both “in-person” and via Zoom. Zoom links are emailed to members prior to each meeting.  We continue to have outstanding speakers, a  monthly Tuesday sewing bee, guild challenges, educational sessions, support community programs, and enjoy wonderful member discussions. Thank you for your interest in the Chattahoochee Evening Stars Quilt Guild. We would love for you to join us. The guild welcomes all levels of quilters. Contact us at info@cesquiltguild.com to attend a meeting. There is a $5 visitor fee.  Members attend free either in person or via Zoom.

WHAT WE DO

The Chattahoochee Evening Stars has many  events to help further our goal of promoting quilting and fostering friendship.

GALLERY

At our monthly meetings, our members get an opportunity to show and tell about what they have been working on and have finished. It gives the members a chance to Oooooo and Ahhhh and get ideas for stash busting projects! See the PICTURES section of our website!

Some facts about our Guild:

  • We are 60 members strong and growing
  • We are an Alpharetta Arts Leader 
  • We  have donated 686 scent cloth packs to the Northside Hospital NICU, 639 pillowcases to Ryan’s Cases for Smiles, and 36 quilts to Quilts for Kids, distributed to the following hospitals: NE Georgia Medical Center, Athens Regional, Scottish Rite, and Egleston. Other quilts were donated to a domestic violence shelter and to foster care children.
  • We have varied programs including nationally recognized speakers, educational workshops, community service events, and much more.
  • Zoom is allowing many members to attend meetings, that couldn’t attend before.
  • Our monthly newsletter showcases details about our upcoming programs and events and gives membership recognition.
  • Beginners are ALWAYS WELCOME!

Meeting

Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (may change for holidays) at the Alpharetta Adult Activity Center (13450 Cogburn Road, Milton, GA 30004).  We begin at 6 pm with social time followed at 7 pm by a brief business meeting, featured speaker and show and tell.

The January meeting is on Monday, January 5th. The speakers are Lene Neesby and Barbara Means who will present “Declutter Your Stash- Keep the Best Finish What you Love and Share the Rest” 

The  February meeting is on Monday, February 2rd.  The speaker is Andrea Barrett  who will tell us about “”Working in a Series & Working with Constraints”

The March meeting is on Monday, March 2rd.  Elaine Poplin will discuss “Making Something From Nothing!”

The April meeting is on Monday, April 6th.  Mary Ellen Von Holt will tell us about “Color Plan Your Quits & LIttle Quilts and How They Grew”

The May meeting is on Monday, May 4h.  Amanda Bauer  will discuss “English Paper Piecing” 

The June meeting is on Monday, June 1st,  will be the annual “Charity Sewing Event”

The Monday  July 6th meeting will host Kristi Moser as our speaker.  She will present “Diamonds Are A Quilter’s Best Friend”

The Monday,  August 3rd meeting speaker is Elisabeth Frolet who will present “A Tale of A Thousand Threads”

The September meeting is on Monday, September 7th.  This is our annual Member Showcase.

The Monday, October 5th meeting speaker is Linda Hahn  who will tell us about “New Your Beauty State Of Mind”

The Monday, November 2rd program is our member appreciation make and take.

The December  meeting is the annual end of the year holiday party.  Details to follow.

 

 

 

Tuesday Bee Group

The Bee Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 6pm-8:30pm at Mansell House* in Alpharetta.  Bring a project or just come and visit, learn and be inspired! You can participate in the PhD (Projects Half Done) activity if you need encouragement and accountability to get things done.

March 1, 2026-  Workshop Presenter:  Elaine Poplin of Messy Goat (www.messygoat.com)

“Improv Lettering Technique”

Elaine Poplin

Elaine has been quilting since she was 8-years-old. She has been teaching various technique classes in quilt shops.  Her quilts have competed and won ribbons in shows throughout the United States including a 2017 NACQJ Award of Merit for Excellence in Quilting.  Elaine began a partnership with Cherrywood Han-Dyed Fabrics as an Ambassador giving her tremendous opportunities to explore color interactions transparency and geometric structure.

  • Location FFA-FCCLA Retreat Center, Covington only 54 miles (1.5 hrs.) away
  • Cost includes room and 8 meals

Bring your sewing projects, machine and supplies.  Be ready to have fun, visit, sew, learn from others and eat!
