Show Rules
Quilt Entry Rules
- Quilts must have been completed between September 12, 2008 and September 19, 2010 for members who participated in the CES 2008 Show. Otherwise, members’ quilts may have been completed prior to 9/12/08.
- All quilts must contain 3 layers and must be quilted by hand or machine, unless this requirement is inconsistent with the intent of the pattern (i.e. cathedral window, yo-yo’s or crazy quilts, etc.).
- Wearable art entries must use one or more of the techniques used in quilting (i.e. piecing, appliqué, quilting, etc.).
- A 4-inch sleeve MUST be sewn to the top back of the quilt. If the quilt is over 8 feet in length, attach the sleeve 8 feet above the bottom edge so that the quilt will not touch the floor. Quilts received without a sleeve will not be displayed. Click here for directions for making a sleeve.
- Entries must have a label sewn on the lower back corner (or inside wearable art) with the entry title, entrant’s name, address, and phone number.
- Each entry must be in a cloth bag or pillowcase; each wearable art must be on a plain wire hanger in a clear plastic (dry-clean type) bag. The entrant’s name must be clearly and obviously written on the pillowcase or garment bag. Quilts entries not complying with this request will not be accepted.
Show Rules
- Quilt entries are due by August 2nd, 2010. NO late entries will be accepted. NO telephone entries will be allowed.
- Due to space considerations, the Jurying Committee reserves the right to limit the number of entries. The Jurying Committee reserves the right to refuse entries that do not meet the following Rules of Entry.
- An entry fee of $10 (by check payable to CES) is required for each entry if the entrant is not a CES member. Note: If you’re planning to enter two quilts as a non-member, why not join our guild? This relieves the quilt entry fee, and gives you access to all our wonderful guild programs throughout the year!
- By signing the entry form, you are giving permission for your quilt to be photographed. Your signature gives CES the right to use the photo of your quilt in any publication, advertisements and any printed or electronic materials.
- Insurance is the responsibility of the entrant. Insurance for your quilt during the Show is made available to you through NQA. CES will make every effort to monitor the safety of all entries.
- Fill out the entry form completely. Entries should have a suggested category on the entry form; however, final placement will be at the discretion of the Jurying Committee.
- On your registration, indicate whether you will hand-deliver or ship your entry.
- If entering more than 3 items, please indicate the priority of importance to you in the event we need to limit the number of items hung. This information should be included in the comment section of the online form, and indicated at the top of hard-copy forms.
- Each entry must be accompanied by a color photo of the quilt or wearable art item. Please write your name, name of the entry and its dimensions on the back of the photograph for hard-copy photos. Email photos of quilt entries using the instructions provided at the time you submit your online entry.
- Each entrant must include a valid email address on the form, or send one self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for notification of the entry acceptance. If more than one entry is submitted, only one SASE is required.
- All entry fees (including insurance) for online quilt entries should be mailed on or before August 2, 2010, to Sheila D. Miller, 905 Hillside Dr, Grayson GA 30017.
- Entry forms and accompanying enclosures (photographs, SASE and fees) can be submitted at a regular CES meeting through August 2, 2010. If not submitted at a guild meeting, entry forms must be mailed on or before August 2, 2010. Mail to Sheila D. Miller, 905 Hillside Dr, Grayson GA 30017.
